October 2026 · National PT Month
This PT Month, Take a Proactive Approach to Your Health
You don’t have to wait for an injury to start working on your health and wellness.

01 / National Physical Therapy Month
October is National Physical Therapy Month, and we want to celebrate by reminding you that you don’t have to wait for an injury to start working on your health and wellness.
When most people think of physical therapy, they immediately think of rehabilitation after an injury or surgery. While those are certainly important parts of PT, the IMG Physical Therapy team can also help you stay active, address movement concerns early, and build the strength and mobility needed for everyday life.
Six Ways Physical Therapy Can Help You Stay Healthy and Active (Even if You Aren’t Injured)
01
Catch Movement Problems Before They Hold You Back
Even small changes in movement, like a stiff shoulder that makes it hard to reach overhead, can affect how you perform everyday tasks. Fortunately, our physical therapists are trained to assess the movement patterns that limit your function or ability to participate in certain activities, including:
- Mobility and range of motion
- Strength and muscle performance
- Balance and coordination
- Functional movements such as squatting, reaching, or climbing stairs
From there, we can develop a plan based on your specific needs and goals.
02
Build Strength for the Activities You Love
Strength isn’t just about lifting weights. Strong muscles help you with all manner of day-to-day tasks, from climbing stairs to carrying groceries. And unlike more general gym workouts, physical therapy can provide an individualized exercise program based on your current abilities, specific limitations, and functional goals.
For example, if movement itself is challenging, we might incorporate mobility work alongside resistance training and functional exercises that resemble the activities you perform at home, work, or during recreation.
We can also adjust the exercise difficulty as you improve, helping your body continue to adapt while keeping your program appropriate for your current abilities.
03
Address Pain Without Giving Up Movement
Pain can make staying active difficult. In some cases, people respond by avoiding movement altogether. But appropriate movement and exercise can be valuable parts of managing many musculoskeletal conditions, from osteoarthritis to sports injuries.
In many of our treatment plans, we utilize hands-on techniques, such as manual therapy, spinal mobilization, or myofascial release, to help reduce pain and prepare your body for more active rehabilitation.
Our goal is bigger than temporary relief. We want to help you move with greater comfort and confidence.
04
Improve Balance and Reduce Your Risk of Falls
Falls can threaten mobility and independence, particularly as we get older. Fortunately, balance is something you can train, no matter your age.
We’ll start by identifying factors that may be affecting your stability, then use that information to select exercises that safely challenge your abilities. Depending on your needs, your program might focus on:
- Leg and core strength
- Standing balance
- Walking and changing directions
- Stepping reactions
- Moving safely across different surfaces
05
Prepare Your Body for Work, Sports, and Hobbies
Whether you’re gearing up for the winter sports season, working a physically demanding job, or hoping to spend more time in the garden, your body needs to meet the demands of the activity.
Physical therapy can help bridge the gap between how you’re moving today and what you want to do tomorrow. We develop personalized treatment plans that blend strengthening, work conditioning, and activity-specific training to improve your capacity.
06
Stay Independent Through Every Stage of Life
Mobility affects how you interact with your community and complete daily tasks. Maintaining it deserves attention throughout life, not just after an injury.
Fortunately, physical therapy can address age-related changes in strength, balance, mobility, and endurance. It can also help people manage arthritis, chronic pain, or other concerns that make daily movement harder.
Your goals guide the plan. That could mean getting back to exercise, returning to work, or simply moving through your day with greater ease.
Make Your Health a Priority This National PT Month
National Physical Therapy Month is the perfect opportunity to think about what your body needs to move, function, and stay active in the months and years ahead.

A Note from Eric
Hello All,
I hope everyone is having a great Fall season! The leaves are starting to change and that crisp fall air is starting to move in, one of my favorite times of the year. My daughters are both busy playing soccer, so that is a lot of fun getting to see them running around out on the field while enjoying some of the great weather.
Not only is October a great month weather wise, it is also National Physical Therapy Month. My business partner, Chris filled me in on a fun fact about how Physical Therapy got its start. Did you know that modern physical therapy actually started during World War I? Back then, they were called “reconstruction aides,” and they used massage and hydrotherapy to help wounded soldiers heal. So great to hear that from someone who was actually there, and can provide that insight to all of the new Physical Therapists going into the field. Thanks for that Chris!
Since it is National Physical Therapy Month, we want to take a moment to celebrate you. Physical therapy isn’t just about recovering from an injury; it’s about reclaiming your lifestyle, understanding your body, and pushing past boundaries you thought were permanent. Whether you came to us to walk without pain, return to your favorite sport, or simply pick up your grandchildren safely, your dedication inspires us every day. We are so thankful for the trust you have put in us over the years and look forward to continuing to, as our motto says, help “restore function one patient at a time” for years to come!
Please try to stay proactive about your health, if you are having nagging aches or pains, or some physical issue is keeping you from living the life you want to live, give us a call, and don’t let it go too long. I always give the analogy; you don’t wait to change the oil in your car until the engine is on fire and you are stranded on the side of the road. Be proactive, and if your proverbial check body light is on, give us a call today; we can help! From the IMG PT family to you, we hope you have a great Fall season!

Recipe of the Month
Spicy Creamy Mushroom Udon
For a spicy, satisfying meal, you have to try this Japanese-Korean fusion bowl! It features udon noodles tossed in a rich, creamy Gochujang Mushroom Sauce and is topped with the crispiest herb-butter-fried oyster mushrooms.

Ingredients
For the Crispy Oyster Mushrooms:
- 6 oz (170 g) oyster mushrooms, torn into bite-sized pieces
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp oil
- 2-3 sprigs fresh thyme
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For the Creamy Spicy Mushroom Udon:
- 2 packs udon noodles (fresh or frozen, about 14–16 oz / 400–450 g total)
- 5-6 fresh shiitake mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 1 large shallot, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 ½ – 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste), adjusting to your spice preference
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¼ – ½ cup water or chicken/vegetable broth, as needed
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Make the crispy mushrooms: Heat the butter and oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the oyster mushrooms and thyme, season lightly with salt and black pepper, and pan-fry for 4–5 minutes. Stir occasionally until they are golden brown and crispy around the edges. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Build the sauce: In the same pan, add the chopped shallot, minced garlic, and sliced shiitake mushrooms. Sauté over medium heat for 3–4 minutes, until the shallots soften and the mushrooms turn lightly golden.
- Make it creamy and spicy: Add the gochujang and stir for about 30 seconds to toast the paste. Pour in the heavy cream and ¼ cup of your water or broth. Mix until the gochujang is fully incorporated and the sauce is smooth.
- Add the udon: Place the udon noodles directly into the sauce. Turn the heat up to high and cook for 2–3 minutes, tossing constantly until the noodles separate and are completely coated in the creamy sauce. (Note: If the sauce becomes too thick, add another splash of water or broth.)
- Garnish and serve: Taste the sauce and adjust the salt and black pepper if needed. Divide the noodles between two bowls and top generously with the crispy oyster mushrooms and sliced green onions.
The proof is in the progress
What Our Patients Are Saying
“I have a level of endurance I haven’t had for years. A life of wellness and activities I enjoy will no longer be limited by my back injury, and I am eternally grateful for that gift that IMG-PT has given me through their excellent skills and clinical expertise!”
— KL
“IMG, OMG what fun!! I will actually miss all of you. It was wonderful to be cared for, especially since I am usually caring for others. It was embarrassing to say what got me here in pain. I made up a more exciting story for others. As you all know, I went through both a physical workout cleaning out my house in prep for renovations. It has also been a challenging emotional time. It was so rewarding and reassuring to come to a place where I was not judged negatively and was uplifted. Thank you all for being who you are!!”
